RESTAURANT REVIEW: Courage Bagels

⭐⭐⭐⭐

When I drive through this part of town there's almost always a line in front of this bagel place and going down the street, for this reason I've never stopped, but on this chilly morning as I was coming up on the corner I realized there was no line, at all. Naturally, I stopped. It seemed like my one and only chance to see what all the fuss was.

Let me tell you about Courage Bagel. The toppings on the bagels are fresh, but they are also very bagel-sandwich, what I mean by this is it's nothing unconventional. The reason Courage is so popular is the texture of their bagels. The bagels here are not puffy and fat, they are actually on the thinner side, but only a little thinner, and have a CRUNCHY CRISP texture on the outside, while the inside is airy and chewy — this is where it's at, this is why so many are willing to stand in line.

The price at Courage isn't normal bagel prices, one must indeed have courage when you shell out a couple dollars shy of twenty for a bagel. For those who really love the texturally different Courage bagel they serve, the crunchy outside and airy inside, just might be enough to frequent this place and repeatedly shell out near twenty dollars. I however am on the fence. I had the Simply Delicious bagel on onion for $18 and it reminded me a lot of another bagel shop in Studio City, where the bagels themselves may not have been as memorable but their unconventional toppings absolutely were. The two places are priced comparably but I find myself feeling, strongly, the bagel shop in Studio City is more worth my money. To be fair, Courage Bagels is delicious, the bagels are something to try, at least once.
